Hi there! Welcome to Simply Well Nutrition. I'm Jenny Shepherd, a Nutritionist based in York, PA, with an MS in Nutrition and Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. My focus is on Human Clinical Nutrition, and my approach is rooted in evidence-based practices.
During my time at MUIH, I gained valuable clinical experience, deepening my understanding of supporting clients through diet, lifestyle, and supplementation to regain control of their health. My true passion lies in uncovering the root causes of health conditions through nutrition, making healthy eating accessible, enjoyable, and far from complicated.
On a personal note, my journey to this point has been shaped by overcoming my own struggles with food. I battled an eating disorder, grappling with societal pressures and falling prey to diet culture. It took time for me to shift my focus from weight to well-being, learning to appreciate my body and its capabilities. I've come to understand that true health involves listening to my body and showing myself compassion.
Today, my perspective on health revolves around nourishing my body, enjoying treats guilt-free, and fostering self-compassion. When I'm not working, I find joy in various activities such as working out, exploring house decor treasures (thrift stores, HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby are my go-tos), and cherishing moments with my hubby and sweet little girl. My kitchen doubles as my happy place, where I experiment and whip up recipes just for the joy of it.
